Namo Buddhaya, Namo Dharmaya, Namo Sanghaya

The late Tun Lim Chong Yu was born in Penang in 1919. The news of his passing away saddens many Malaysians and his foreign relatives and friends. He was a man who possessed great merits and had four Tibetan monks chanting next to him when he left us peacefully last night. He contributed much to the development of Penang and Malaysia and is a rare model politician respected by many. His passing away is a loss to the nation. We are sad to lose a great friend and a great statesman; but we also feel a sense of relief that he did not have to prolong the sufferings of sickness. We will now miss his occasional visits to Than Hsiang temple with Toh Puan Lim.

Tun Lim, we have good affinity and I have come here to share the Buddha Dharma with you with a stanza:

“Human rebirth is precious and difficult to gain;
You had led a life which should be a model for many.
Now that the affinity with friends of this life is over,
May you be born in a Buddhaland of your affinity.”
