      Plain Vegetarian Butter Cake

        Ingredients

180 gm        butter/margarine
160 gm        sugar
1 can        evaporated milk
1 teaspoon        essence vanilla
340 gm        plain flour
1 teaspoon        double action baking powder
½        teaspoon baking soda

        Method

1.     Put the butter, sugar and milk into saucepan and melt over low heat without boiling it and cool to room temperature.
2.     Sift all the dry ingredients together into a mixing bowl.
3.     Slowly add in the melted mixture and gradually fold in the flour so that it is smooth and well-mixed.
4.     Finally add in the essence vanilla.
5.     Pour into a greased and lined cake tin and bake for 30–45 minutes at 160C till cooked.
