Leo was once asked to be the judge of a contest to find the most caring child. The winner was a four year old boy whose next door neighbour was an elderly gentleman that had recently lost his wife. Upon seeing the man cry, the little boy went into the old gentleman's yard, climbed onto his lap, and just sat there. When his mother asked him what he had said to the neighbour, the little boy said, “Nothing, I just helped him cry.”
When our nearest kin, friends, or those we respect and cherish dearly needed us, were we there for them? It is not to throw an elaborate banquet in glamorous celebration, or giving a rare diamond or a luxurious mansion or cool cars, but just simply being there.
Just being there, living each moment of our lives appreciating and cherishing each little condition, “thank you for the warm tears and bright smile!” Let the encompassing gentle silence of compassion wipe away the tears and ease the pain.
Complete the task of today, leave no regrets for tomorrow.
