A Buddhist Poem

by Venerable Zhen Jue

Thousand of miles apart in different regions,
But watching the same golden sunrise.
Divided by great mountains and vast oceans,
But gazing at the same fading twilight.

In a day there's only one sunrise and one twilight
And life slips away like water in one's palm grasp tight.
By its own wings, the eagle takes flight;
By one's own strive, Truth seen with Insight.

Though in different paths now we strive,
Only at one destination we shall arrive!
For the Earth has only one sun and moon;
From each single bud, the roses bloom.
