Yesterday (Feb 26, 2010), my web server was down with the message: "kernal panic... cannot access ex4 file on root...grub..."

I fixed it today with the following steps:

I used ssh to update drupal 6.14 to drupal 6.15 this morning. Here is what I did.

1. Remote login to the web server

Ubuntu 9.10 works better in Dell Mini 12 netbook. The only problem is that I can not reduce the screen light. The FN keys do not function, the Brightness Applet does not work also.

Ubuntu 9.10 changed input method from scim to IBus. IBus is more flexible and powerful than scim.

Setp 1: Enable IBus
Form Menue, System -->Administration -->Lanuage Support

Unbuntu 9.10 released today. My system has two partitions with Ubuntu 9.04 installed: one partition for the root / (system file), one partition is home directory /home.

I have installed Ubuntu 9.04 in my Dell Mini 12 for more than three times. It always freezes, slow. And the Openoffice cannot be used for 10 pages Chinese documents.

1. download Ubuntu Server Edition 9.04

2. choose LAMP, OpenSSH, Print and Samba to install

3. Configure /etc/network/interfaces

sudo nano /etc/network/interfaces

I have an old printer FUJI XEROX DocPrint 340A which supports TCP/IP connection.

1. Find out printer's MAC address (use printer's menu to print system)
