The Friday Buddhist School of Than Hsiang Jing Yuan(Sungai Petani)organized a half-day tour around Alor Setar on Friday, 25 May 2012 with an aim mainly to expose its students to different traditions of Buddhism. 40 people including 29 children, 3 Ai Xin parents and 6 teachers led by Reverand Zhi Qiang and Brother Zhi Hui participated in the tour.
Early in the morning, participants gathered at the Main Shrine. In his briefing Venerable Zhen Ru reminded the participants to always keep in mind the importance of doing good deeds and put it into practice. After prostrating to the Buddha image as a symbolic gesture of paying homage to the Enlightened One, they set off for Alor Setar around 8.05 a.m.
They visited Hooi En Fat Yean which is a Mahayana Buddhist organization and Wat Nikrodharam, a Thai temple of the Theravada tradition. They also visited the National Rice Museum and Gunung Keriang (Crystal Mountain) on their way back.
It was really a joyful and informative trip. Amituofo!
