Buddhist Chinese New Year Celebration and Opening Ceremony of Chinese Calligraphy Exhibition by Mr. Lim Yew Chew

Mr Lim Yew Chew was invited to hold a Calligraphy Exhibition in Than Hsiang Temple. 26 pieces of his calligraphy were exhibited in our Main Shrine Hall. The manuscripts were sold for RM 500 to RM 1000. Mr. Lim donated all the income from the sale to International Buddhist College. Those who attended the exhibition got to see the pair banners which are considered to be the longest in the world. Mr. Lim demonstrated his skill in calligraphy by writing two Chinese words after the opening ceremony, Datuk Dr Teng Hock Nan and other sponsors graced the ribbon-cutting ceremony.

Ven. Wei Wu, the abbot, expressed his thanks to Mr Lim for his generous donation and also his gift to Than Hsiang Temple during the opening of the Main Shrine Hall three years ago.(“Gatha of Samantabhadra Bodhisattva which is a chapter of the Avatamsaka Sutra”.) The Gatha was displayed on the wall of the Main Shrine Hall.

Buddhist Chinese New Year Celebration organized by 22 Buddhist Organisations from northern region of Peninsular Malaysia was held on the same day at the Multi Purpose Hall.

The celebration was kick start by a Blessing Service and short Dharma Talk by Ven Wei Wu. Representative of the various organizations entertained the guests with their performances

High tea was served at the end of the program.
