The four -day- three- nite retreat came to a successful close on the 7/6/09 . One hundred and ten participants diligently recited the name of the Amitaba Buddha single mindedly during the retreat.

Participants were up from their slumber at 5am daily, getting ready for the morning chanting at 5.30am to be followed by breakfast. After breakfast , the participants would then enthusiastically perform their respective chores assigned which included sweeping and mopping the floor, cleaning the window panes, tidying their rooms and of course, the usual cleaning of bowls and plates.

By 8am, the participants were ready for instructions on the 8 precepts and getting a taste of the monastic life of cultivation. The daily routine, besides chanting of Buddha names, comprised sitting meditation, circumambulating the Buddha statue. Recitation of Buddha name is a good way of maintaining good concentration as the sound of the Buddha name guards against mental distraction.

Evening was allocated for dharma lecture. Transference of merits and a jog around the hall brought an end to the day’s program before the participants retired for the night.
