2024 M.B.S.A International Maha Sanghika Dana

The 2024 M.B.S.A International Maha Sanghika Dana, organized by the working committee of M.B.S.A. Maha Sanghika Dana and co-organized by the Malaysian Buddhist Kulapati Association, was held on September 15, 2024, at the Than Hsiang Temple in Penang. A total of 195 monks were present to receive offerings.
The event began at 9:00 AM at Da Bei Dian, where four alms bowls were placed for devotees to line up and place a small spoonful of white rice into the bowls, symbolizing offerings to the monastic community.
At 10:00 AM, the ceremony commenced on the fifth floor.
First, Patrons, Main sponcors and Co-Sponsors presented electronic lamps as offerings to the Buddha and Bodhisattvas. Following this, Sister Saw Gaik Yen, Chairmain of the working committee of M.B.S.A International Maha Sanghika Dana, and Sister Lin Xiuxiu, representative of the Malaysian Buddhist Kulapati Association, handed over donation checks collected during the event to the Malaysian Buddhist Institute and the International Buddhist College. The checks were received by Venerable Kai Zun and Venerable Zhen Ru, respectively.
Next, Theravada monk chanted Buddhist scriptures in Pali, followed by a Mahayana monk reciting the Sutra of Ullambana. The event also included a special ceremony led by the working committee, who performed the Pouring of the Water of Liberation (Suat Narm) as an offering and dedication to the deceased.
Venerable Wei Wu, expressed gratitude to the attending monks and to all those who contributed to making this grand event possible. Every year, the M.B.S.A. donates the surplus from the M.B.S.A International Maha Sanghika Dana to the Malaysian Buddhist Institute and the International Buddhist University, with the aim of nurturing future monks, continuing the wisdom of the Buddha, and promoting the flourishing of Buddhism.
Finally, The M.B.S.A International Maha Sanghika Dana concluded successfully at 12:00pm. After the offering of requisites and NAVAKAMMA to the monks.
