“Two hearts united become lifelong companions; with compassion as their guide, they cultivate good merit and wisdom together.”
February 14, 2026, in modern society, is widely regarded as a special day for couples and spouses to exchange gifts and express love.
On that day, Than Hsiang Temple held a special Valentine’s Day marriage registration. five couples registered at the temple registration hall, becoming husband and wife embarking on a new chapter in their life journey.
That morning, the couples arrived at Than Hsiang Temple with flowers in hand, accompanied by family and friends, filled with joy and happiness. At approximately 9 a.m., under the guidance of Mr. Tan Peng Huat, the marriage registration ceremony officially began. The process included the registrar asking each couple whether they willingly chose to marry out of love.
The registrar explained in detail that the registration was conducted in accordance with Malaysia’s 1976 Law Reform (Marriage and Divorce) Act. This law applies to non-Muslim marriages and stipulates monogamy. He further emphasized that once couples sign the marriage certificate, their marriage becomes legally valid. During the validity of the marriage, neither party may register another marriage locally or abroad with someone else, as that would be against the law.
Following this, the registrar led the couples in chanting three times “ Namo Shakyamuni Buddha” and three times “Namo Medicine Buddha Who Dispels Calamities and Prolongs Life”, as blessing for their marriage.
The couples then took turns to recite their marriage vows before the registrar, pledging lifelong respect, care, mutual support through joys and hardships, and unwavering commitment. They signed their vows, with two witnesses for each couple attesting to their happiness. Family and friends looked on, offering blessings and feel happy for them, while photographers captured every memorable moment.
Finally, after exchanging rings, the groom presenting flowers to the bride, and both declaring “I love you,” the registrar officially announced that on February 14, 2026, they were legally married. Congratulations were offered, with wishes for marital bliss and family happiness.
After the registration, the newlyweds proceeded to the Main Shrine Hall for photographs, preserving this beautiful moment. May the blessings of the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas ensure that each couple enjoys a happy marriage, a life of perfection, and a radiant future.
