Under the compassionate guidance of Venerable Abbot Wei Wu, Founder of Than Hsiang Temple, Lay Devotee Ricardo from Medan, Indonesia, underwent hair-cutting and ordination ceremonies at Than Hsiang Temple on September 9 and 10, officially taking the monastic vows and resolving to spread the Dharma for the benefit of all beings. Lay Devotee Ricardo is also the lay son of Master Hui Li.

On the evening of September 9 at 7:00 PM, the Hair-Cutting Ceremony took place in the Medicine Buddha Hall on the 2nd floor of Than Hsiang Temple. Amidst the Buddha chanting and blessings of the monastic sangha and family members, Venerable Zhen Ru performed the symbolic hair-cutting for the novice candidate, marking the severing of afflictions and renunciation of worldly life.

At 9:30 AM the following morning, the Ordination and Precept-Transmitting Ceremony was held in the Main Shrine on the 6th floor of Than Hsiang Temple. Venerable Abbot Wei Wu conferred the Sramanera (novice) precepts upon him, granting the public name Shi Chuan Ming and the inner name Shi Zhen Liang (Shi Zhi Liang).

The newly ordained Venerable Zhi Liang took a formal vow expressing profound gratitude for the blessing of taking monastic vows under Venerable Wei Wu. He vowed to diligently study the Dharma and return to the temple upon completing his studies to propagate the Dharma and benefit sentient beings. To further his monastic cultivation, Venerable Zhi Liang will travel to Taoyuan, Taiwan, in early October to pursue four years of advanced studies at Yuan Kuang Buddhist Institute. In his vow, he expressed steadfast resolve to complete his education and overcome any challenges during his overseas studies, living up to his master's grace.

The monastic sangha and devotees of Than Hsiang Temple jointly witnessed this auspicious ordination, expressing joyful praise and connecting in the Dharma.
