In alignment with popular folk beliefs, Than Hsiang Temple organized a Vegetarian Festival during the ninth lunar month, a period when many people observe a vegetarian diet. The Temple seized this opportunity to forge good affinities with the public, providing a pure and joyful environment for everyone to enjoy vegetarian meals. Through this initiative, the Temple also hoped to inspire more people to embrace vegetarianism, learn Buddhism, volunteer, and cultivate both blessings and wisdom together.

This year's Vegetarian Festival not only welcomed a continuous stream of visitors but also received nearly 1,000 delivery orders daily. The successful completion of this festival was made possible by the indispensable efforts of every staff member and volunteer. Long before the festival began, everyone had already dedicated themselves to various preparations. Throughout the festival, all volunteers and staff stood united, working busily and giving their absolute best at their respective posts in a well-organized manner.

Every morning at dawn, the Bodhisattvas of the vegetable chopping team meticulously prepared the ingredients. Once the food was cooked, the lunchbox team systematically packed the rice and noodle dishes. Another group of volunteers and staff carefully counted and categorized the meals before passing them to the driver team. The drivers then took over the relay, delivering each lunchbox—filled with love and blessings—to its destination right on time. We are deeply grateful to every volunteer and staff member who continued to support and protect the event day after day, rain or shine.

In addition to the delivery service, the noodle stall—fully supported by volunteers and staff—offered a rotating daily menu of authentic local delicacies, including Jawa Mee, Hokkien Mee, Loh Mee, and Curry Mee. The highly popular specialty items, Roti Jala and Pasembur, were also carefully crafted by a dedicated team. The wide array of cakes and buns, along with the homemade Muah Chee and Chee Cheong Fun specially sold for charity by the Mitra Welfare Center, all embodied the heartfelt devotion of everyone involved.

Venerable Wei Wu once taught in his Dharma talks that every service should be treated as a form of cultivation, always practice "keeping the mind calm while the body is busy." Guided by the spirit of "a Bodhisattva is an uninvited friend," we should take the initiative to support one another. With a heart of gratitude that "appreciates others' merits and remembers their kindness," we serve every customer with warm smiles and a joyful attitude. By showcasing the strength of a team that functions like a family, we forged good affinities with the public through our best service.

Perfected by love, completed with joy. It was precisely the hard work, silent dedication, and concerted efforts of the volunteers and staff during the September Vegetarian Festival that made this event a resounding success. Deepest gratitude to have you with us!

Gentle Reminder: The economy rice stall is not only open during the Vegetarian Festival but operates as usual on regular days, connecting with the public through a "voluntary donation" basis. Everyone is most welcome to visit Than Hsiang Temple to enjoy our vegetarian food.
