The seventh lunar month is the month when Chinese observe the tradition of ancestor worship or Ulambana in remembrance of their departed. This is in line with paying respect and inculcating the much-revered virtue of filial piety to one’s ancestors.
Accordingly, Than Hsiang Temple has scheduled from the 11th to 16th August (11th
to 16th of seventh lunar month) (Monday to Saturday) at 8.00pm daily for Amitabha sutra chanting. In the morning of the 17th of August ( 17th of seven lunar month), Amitabha- name recitation, puja and dharma lecture will be held, followed by the three-session Pure land chanting for the departed, dharma creditors and blessings for peace, good health and harmony for all beings in the world.
As in the past, Than Hsiang Temple will provide penitent (pureland) and lamp-lighting service for the transference and accrual of merits. Interested parties kindly register at the registration counter for the preparation and listing of names on the board of the altar. Participants may opt for a standard RM 50.00 service charge or payment in any amount option. The proceeds will channel towards the Phor Tay High School Building Fund.
Enquiries are welcome during office hour.
