On Saturday, 11 August 2012, a ceremony of renunciation was held at 10 p.m.at the Main Shrine. More than 30 people witnessed the ceremony.

Sramaneri Hui Xiu’s Spiritual Preceptor was Venerable Wei Wu, abbot of Than Hsiang Temple. Sramaneri Hui Xiu (Sister Teh Yak Ho) had been teaching in Chinese primary schools for approximately 40 years before retirement about 10 years ago.

She was given the tonsure at 6.30 p.m. the day before renunciation.

Family members, close friends and former colleagues were among those present at the auspicious and solemn renunciation ceremony which ended at 11.30 a.m.
