Fo Qi Sharing 2

By Pan Chu from Pajam

Firstly, I am very grateful to Shifu for starting a Than Hsiang branch in Pajam in 2004. This gave me the opportunity to learn about Buddhism then. Initially my knowledge of Buddhism was very shallow until I attended Shifu's Dharma talks, one of which was “The Path to Bodhicitta”, in Country Heights , Johor Bahru and Tham Wah Wan (KL). The talks gave me a bit more understanding on how to live life and provided a practical approach in living my daily life with regards to problems I face at work, at home or with friends.

The past one year in Pajam had been very beneficial to me particularly when Venerable Zhen Yuan left to further her studies in International Buddhist College , as there were many activities and the ongoing daily and weekly programmes we had to prepare.

The three monthly Eight Precepts Cultivation had been very helpful to me because I felt reassurance, comfort and happiness after each chanting session; particularly in the morning session which made me feel very fresh and relaxed.

Today, being able to participate in the Seven Day Amitabha Recitation Retreat is like a dream come true for me as there was no prior plan to participate until two weeks before the Fo Qi, when I managed to obtain approval for my leave application. I am very thankful to Shifu for accepting me even after the closing date had passed.

In Shifu's Dharma talks, I learnt the meaning of “Mindfulness”, “Concentration” and how to eliminate our greed, anger and pride. I also learnt that as long as we are mindful and have right views and good thoughts, we will be happy.

In closing, Pan Chu wishes to thank Shifu and all the Venerables for their kind guidance and support in leading us on the Right Path. I am also very grateful, Gan Ern, to all members of Than Hsiang Temple for all their preparation and contribution to make this Seven Day Amitabha Recitation Retreat so successful for us.
