PENANG: Than Hsiang Temple will organize Ching Ming Dharma Assembly ~Three-Session Pure Land Chanting from 1.00p.m to 6.00p.m. on 1st of April (Sun) in conjunction with Ching Ming Festival. The Three-Session Pure Land recollection was compiled by Master Zhongfeng, the imperial preceptor of Yuan Dynasty. It was conducted as a religious ceremony to help living beings as well as the deceased. Each of the Three Sessions consists of chanting the Amitabha Sutra, Amitabha Buddha Name Recitation, teachings, praises, repentance, and vow.
In accordance with Green Environment Protection, Sunday, 1 April 2012 is marking an important date in the
calendar of Than Hsiang Temple as we would adopt electronic based memorial tablets rather than the traditional memorial tablets this year. Thus, there would be no burning of memorial tablets after the Dharma assembly while the participants would view the transformation of electronic based memorial tablets turning into ascending lotus towards Amitabha Buddha. We cordially invite you to donate and set up electronic yellow memorial tablets to receive blessings and to deliver the merits to the deceased.
For those who donate RM50 and above, the respective names of the deceased would be shown on the electronic yellow memorial tablets via computer screen set up on the spot. All proceeds will go to Than Hsiang Educational Fund which sponsors educational activities at International Buddhist College, Sunday Buddhist Class, Than Hsiang Youth Group and Kalyana Mitra Centres.
Ching Ming, which means “clear and bright” in Chinese, is both the fifth term in the traditional lunar calendar and a memorial ceremony for the dead. We invite you to join in this special practice out of gratitude to your ancestors and also for your own benefit. Interested participants are advised to register or summit their participation slip early to the temple for the purposes of scanning and computer key in. Should you have any further enquiries, please call 04-6414822 ext. 102.
