On August 15, 2026 (the third day of the seventh lunar month), Than Hsiang Temple held a memorial service to commemorate the passing of Venerable Xiu Jing.

Venerable Xiu Jing was a revered elder in Than Hsiang Temple and the wider Buddhist community, as well as the ordaining master of Venerable Wei Wu, the founder of Than Hsiang Temple. His spirit of spreading the great love of Buddhism through the Four Immeasurables—loving-kindness, compassion, sympathetic joy, and equanimity—remains deeply rooted in our hearts.

At 10:00 AM, Venerable Wei Wu led the monastics in the Great Compassion Hall to conduct the Grand Offering to the Buddha and recite the Amitabha Sutra. Afterward, the assembly proceeded to the Ancestral Hall to dedicate the merits of the Dharma service before the memorial tablet of Venerable Xiu Jing, praying that he may return on his vows to liberate all sentient beings.

Twenty-eight years have passed since Venerable Xiu Jing entered ultimate peace. His noble practice, exemplary conduct, and devotion to protecting the Dharma continue to be remembered and learned by the fourfold assembly of Than Hsiang Temple to this day.
