On the 24th of October 2003, on a Friday evening, Dr. Dharmadhara from the Western Buddhist Order (WBO) gave a talk on how one can awaken the Bodhi Heart within through compassion. A crowd of over 40 people turned up to listen to his talk which deals with his experiences on practicing loving- kindness as well as relating stories from the sutras.

The intermittent showers on the morning of Sunday, 21 October, 2003 did not deter a large crowd from turning up for the Anniversary Celebration of Wan Ching Yuen Centre and Than Hsiang Fund.

Hundreds of people braved the pouring rain to enjoy the different varieties of food for sale at the Vege Food Fair held on the grounds of Than Hsiang Temple. The food fair was held as part of a fund-raising activity for the International Buddhist University Project (IBU). The people were spoilt for choices when selecting their purchases as stalls after stalls presented delicious lip-smacking 100% pure vegetarian food.
