Following the official establishment of the Kalyana Mitra Home in Tanjung Bunga, the Kalyana Mitra Home located near the University Sains Malaysia (USM), was officially opened on 19th of July with blessings from Ven. Wei Wu. After the blessing ceremony, Ven. Wei Wu converse closely with the house members of the Kalyana Mitra Home.

A Maha Sanghikadana in conjunction with the Annual General Meeting of the Malaysian Buddhist Sangha Association (M.B.S.A.) was recently held in the Multipurpose Hall of Than Hsiang Temple.

A Vegetarian Food Fair will be held on 3rd August 2003 (Sunday), from 10.00am to 3.00pm, in the premises of Than Hsiang Temple. The food fair is organized by the temple to raise funds for the International Buddhist University project.

This May, the Sunshine Group known for its work and dedication in helping charitable organizations has once again extended its help in collecting donations for Than Hsiang Fund. In fact, donation boxes from Than Hsiang Fund were placed strategically in the various shopping outlets under this group since early April. A series of therapy workshops was recently conducted during the month of May and June by an acclaimed therapist from Australia, Prema Jansen. These workshops were held on the 5th Floor, Multipurpose Hall of Than Hsiang and were organized by the Mitra Welfare Centre in Than Hsiang.

During these workshops, a series of creative methods were introduced by Prema to help in a therapy. These methods include sandplay, rebirthing, as well as an exploration into the idea of death and dying.

A retreat for Than Hsiang staff was recently organized as a means of cultivation and relaxation for them. The staff retreat was held at a secluded area in Teluk Bahang, away from the hustle and bustle of city life. About 30 staff participated in this retreat. They included the staff from Klintiendharm, Hatyai as well as the resident nuns of Than Hsiang Temple.
