2026 Ching Ming Dharma Assembly

Every year, during the Ching Ming Festival, Than Hsiang Temple holds the Ching Ming Dharma Assembly. This year, the Dharma assembly was held on 12 April 2026, at the 5th floor of the temple, and was also livestreamed on YouTube.

On that day, in the early morning, volunteers prepared rice, vegetable dishes, and fruits, arranging them neatly on the Pure Land Altar. At the same time, many devotees came to the fifth-floor Pure Land Altar to worship their ancestors.

2026 Guan Yin Bodhisattva’s Birthday (Lunar February 19)

The nineteenth day of the second lunar month marks the Guan yin Bodhisattva's birthday. In Buddhism, Guan yin Bodhisattva's birthday is a very important Buddhist Festival. Guan yin symbolizes “great compassion and the spirit of relieving suffering." Therefore, whenever sentient beings are in need and recite Guan yin Bodhisattva's name, the bodhisattva will respond and comes to their aid.

Monday, 6 April 2026 — According to the Lunar Calendar, this was the 19th day of the 2nd month, coinciding with Guan Yin Bodhisattva’s Birthday. On this auspicious day, Venerable Hui Shan was ordained under the guidance of Most Venerable Wei Wu at Than Hsiang Temple.

2026 Buddha’s Parinirvana Day

To commemorate Buddha’s Parinirvana Day, Than Hsiang Temple held a noon offering ceremony on April 2, 2026, in the Main Shrine Hall. That day coincided with the fifteenth day of the second lunar month, the very date of Buddha’s Parinirvana. From early morning, many devotees came to the temple to offer lights and pay homage to the Buddha in the Great Compassion Hall. They also visited the Than Hsiang Canteen to enjoy the special offerings of the day—Jawa noodles, economy rice, and assorted pastries.

Than Hsiang Temple holds the "Chinese New Year House Blessing" annually, offering new year blessings and strengthen bonds of friendship. The purpose of this activity is to wish every household peace and health, auspiciousness throughout the day, and joy in the Dharma.

This year, the “Chinese New Year House Blessing" was carried out by the Than Hsiang Youth Group, with many young participants joining in.

Reciting Amitabha, Radiating Infinite Light

On the first day of the Lunar New Year, Than Hsiang Temple held a Chinese New Year One-Day Retreat in the fifth-floor Multi-purpose Hall. The program included Amitabha Buddha-name recitation, circumambulation, meditation, the noon offering ceremony, evening chanting, and a Dharma talk—all aimed at purifying the mind and welcoming the blessings of the new year.
