Than Hsiang Zang Yuan Opening Ceremony

10 December 2005 marked an important day in the calendar of Than Hsiang Zang Yuan. At 10.00am in the morning, Venerable Wei Wu was at the Centre together with His Eminence, Drubwang Konchok Norbu Rinpoche., three other Rinpoches, seven Lamas and all the Venerables from Than Hsiang Temple.

The Opening Ceremony started with His Eminence, Drubwang Rinpoche leading the chanting with the other Rinpoches and Lamas in Tibetan. This was followed by the Mahayana Tradition blessing and chanting led by Venerable Wei Wu.

Visit of Dental Team

A team of dental health care personnel from the Bayan Baru Dental Clinic came to Than Hsiang on the morning of 13 December 2005. This team, headed by Dr. Asha, consisted of three dental nurses and three dental assistants. They set up an educational display on dental health near the front counter and their mobile clinic at one end of the canteen area.

Visit by Novitiates to Wan Ching Yuan Centre

A group of young novitiates paid a visit to Wan Ching Yuan Centre on the afternoon of 26 November 2005. These young Samaneras and Samaneris (devoted novices observing the Ten Precepts) were part of the Malayan Buddhist Meditation Centre's Novitiate Programme. 26 November 2005 was the last day of their Novitiate Programme and they were going round to visit various temples and doing Dana (presentation of gifts in cash and kind).

Seven Day Amitabha Recitation Retreat

At noon on 19 November 2005, registration for the Seven Day Amitabha Recitation Retreat began with an early group of thirty participants. By the end of registration at 3.00pm in the Great Compassion Hall, a total of 184 participants had registered themselves for the Retreat. The majority of the participants were ladies and about a third of the participants were over 60 years in age.

English Dharma Talks by Venerable Ajahn Sujato

Bhante Sujato is an Australian Buddhist monk. He was ordained in Thailand at Wat Pa Nanachat in the forest tradition of Ajahn Chah. He spent several years in Thailand, lived with Ajahn Brahmavamso in Perth for three years and spent over a year in Sukhavana cave monastery in Ipoh, Malaysia.

The 100 Million Mani Recitation Retreat

The abbot of Than Hsiang Temple, Venerable Wei Wu, had heard of His Eminence, Drubwang Konchok Norbu Rinpoche and called on Bro. Chooi Shee Hoong, President of Ratnashri Buddhist Centre in Petaling Jaya, to invite His Eminence to perform the 100 Million Mani Puja at Than Hsiang Temple to coincide with the opening ceremony of the Temple's Main Shrine Hall on 1 December 2002.

Dharma Talk at International Buddhist College

The Klintiendharma Foundation of Thailand organized a Dharma Talk by Venerable Wei Wu at the Multi Purpose Hall of International Buddhist College on 13 November 2005. This is the first time the foundation organized such talks and around 200 devotees from Southern Thailand attended the talk.

Visit of Firefly Mission from Singapore

A group of more than a hundred people from the Firefly Mission of Singapore visited Than Hsiang on 3rd November 2005. Sisters Heng Boi Sim and Koh Bee Ling took them on a tour of Than Hsiang starting with Wan Ching Yuen Centre, where they sang some songs with the old folks there and presented the old folks with presents.

Later Sis Koh introduced the Firefly Mission group to Than Hsiang Fund’s four-fold core activities of providing Education, Welfare, Cultivation, and ICT (Information, Communication & Technology).
